Support for Foster Carers

You will have access to professional support,
whenever you need it, 24/7

We strongly believe that our foster carers should never feel like they’re on their own in what they’re trying to achieve. So, while we encourage our carers to develop their own style and autonomy, professional help and advice are never more than a phone call away.

Systemic family therapy
principles guide our support

support for foster carers

Lika is a therapeutic foster care agency and systemic principles don’t just guide the care our young people receive; they inform every single decision we make across the agency. That includes our approach to supporting our carers.

You can expect:

  • A culture of openness, transparency and kindness
  • The freedom to develop your own style of working
  • A thoughtful matching process (the right carer for the right child)
  • Excellent follow-up and feedback
  • To never feel like you’re left to cope on your own.

We know the therapeutic approach to foster care works. We believe in realistic change and we work with our foster carers every single day to achieve what’s possible in every case.

But we also know that caring for young people who have experienced trauma is a demanding job, so you’ll have access to professional emotional support when you need it.

What Ofsted says

“Careful matching of children with foster families contributes to the stability in their lives… Other factors that underpin the stability of placements are the resilience of foster carers and the extra support that they and the children receive from the agency.”
